Japans Crisis and Radioactivity

Hey guys,
     For this post I would first like you to read the following article on Japans current crisis involving one of its nuclear facilities after the recent Earthquake and Tsunami.
     Then please watch the following video relating to radiation



1.)     What type of radiation do you think is being emitted from the plant in Japan?

2.)     What opinions have you heard about ongoing research and construction of nuclear plants? have you formed an opinion? If so please share what it is and why?

3.)     Research either 'three mile island' or 'Chernobyl' on Wikipedia and read about one. In what ways do you think that the one you researched is the same or different than the current crisis in japan?

Hey guys,
     For this post I would like you to :
1.)     read this article on skyrocketing gas prices.  If you are a driver do these prices have any impact on choices you make about driving? If you are a non driver what are your parents thoughts on the rising prices and does it affect their decisions to drive?

2.)     Watch the following video on supply and demand and relate how the crisis in libya posed in the first article might help to explain why prices for gasoline in the US are rising so much

Hey Guys,

1.)     Write down the definition of a linear equation

2.)     Find one APPLICATION of a linear equation. and explain it in detail (what does the slope of the equation mean? what does the y intercept mean for the equation? what do the variables represent?)

Hey Guys,
     So the last blog went well I thought and you all seemed fairly interested in it haha.

     For this entry I would like you all to read this article on caffeine in energy drinks for Children and see what you think about some of the statistics it presents to audiences.

1.)     How much Caffeine do you think you get each day? Then look up the amount for the drink you consume and total for this entry.

2.)     The Article mentions obesity can result from some of these energy drinks. What about diet drinks? look up at least one ingredient that you do not readily recognize in a diet energy drink (you may have to research some if you don't have a can laying around) and comment on what you find out about the ingredient (please provide a link as well).

3.)     Look at the following site for information regarding the economic impact of obesity in america. How does Maine compare to some other regional states? and with the country?
